Myths About Chickenpox

Myth 1: Can you catch chickenpox twice?

Most people only will have chickenpox for once.There are rare cases in which a person can develop chicken pox twice. In some people, the virus can reactivated later in life leading to shingles infection.


Myth 2: There is no vaccine for chickenpox?

Vaccination for chicken pox is available as non compulsory vaccination in Malaysia. About 2% to 5% of chicken pox might lead to serious complications, we advice children above 1 year old to be vaccinated.


Myth 3: Patient should not bath and watch out for certain foods during infected duration?

Bathing daily is allowed as long as after bath, body maintains in clean and dry condition. Do not break chickenpox blisters during shower. Patient should take easy digested food and avoid heavy and oily meals. No specific food is contraindicated.
